Zambian artist Yo Maps has issued an official statement regarding the unexpected cancellation of his performance in Cape Town. The popular artist was scheduled to perform at an event but was unable to do so due to miscommunication between the Cape Town municipality and the event organizers. Yo Maps and his team arrived at the venue on time after attending the scheduled sound check earlier in the day. The performance was set for 24:00hrs, but a last-minute change in the program prompted the promoters to inform the team at 23:30 that they needed to head to the venue immediately.
Despite the quick response from Yo Maps and his team, they arrived at the venue before midnight only to find that the security was not present, and the situation was becoming unsafe as crowds started to act unruly. The Cape Town municipality had also ordered the event to be shut down, leading to further complications.
