Radio Christian Voice Launches Groundbreaking Awards for the Music Industry

Radio Christian Voice (RCV), Zambia’s largest Christian broadcaster, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the launch of the RCV Music Awards (RCVMAs). This groundbreaking initiative aims to recognize and empower Christian artists by honoring their talent, dedication, and efforts in spreading the Gospel through music. Scheduled for November 30, 2024, at Music Club, the awards seek to establish a high standard of excellence for Christian music artists, enabling them to break barriers and compete internationally. By fostering creativity and unity in the gospel music industry, the RCVMAs aim to minister to the people and bring the country together in truth and goodness through the universal language of music.

RCV’s commitment to supporting the gospel music industry dates back to its founding in 1994. In the late 1990s, the broadcaster built a multi-track studio to aid local artists with recording, producing, and mastering their music, a rare opportunity at the time. RCV also hosted pioneering concerts featuring Christian artists in the early 2000s and continues to provide a platform for gospel music today. As RCV celebrates its pearl jubilee, the launch of the RCVMAs marks a new legacy of empowering the gospel music industry with more spaces and platforms for artists. Mrs. Wongel A. Abate Banda, RCV’s Country Manager, announced that further details about the awards, including categories and partnerships, will be revealed on their website and social media channels.

The event’s guest of honor, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Art, Kangwa Chileshe, emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting artists. Represented by Lemmy Kafwamfwa, Director of Human Resource and Administration at the ministry, Chileshe highlighted the launch of the national arts and film policies in March 2024. These policies prioritize investment in the arts sector and aim to harness the country’s talents for the enjoyment of all Zambians. The RCVMAs reflect this vision, promoting peace and unity through compelling gospel music that transcends barriers and connects people. For more information, visit RCV’s website at rcv.co.zm.
